 General News & Events

Horsham BOTB FINAL - On this cold, but superbly attended Halloween evening in the Carfax, Horsham, The Drone Rebels opened up, but with their singer stranded in Barbados and the Drummer away in Mexico, the vocal duties were left to Drew the guitarist who did a sterling job. Their infectious punk tunes and hooks really got the crowd warmed up. Agent of The Enemy were next and totally took the stage by storm, with their halloween costumes, makeup and masks, the awesome wall of sound produced by this band is something to see and hear ! With the 2 frontmen climbing over the bandstand, it was an impressive, powerful and entertaining set from start to finish. The mellow grooves of DropTear ModelMaker were next, and you can't help getting into what they're doing. With the Trumpet and heavy effects, over the solid drums, bass, keys and guitar, their Groove Armada-esqe sound is totally infectious and is perfect Festival material. Eight Dirty Pages have a sound and style all of their own, low down and dirty riffs and grooves with the brilliant vocals of Leah and storming guitar solos, this year they really have grown into a brilliant band.  Next were metal band, If Heroes Should Fail, who produced (for me) one of the performances of the night. An impressively tight and solid backline superbly fronted by Sean who could sing and scream equally well. Extra points must be awarded to Sam for his guitar slinging antics ! Last band were Nausicca, a phenomenal 3-piece band who produce amazing progressive metal. Very complex powerful music, so slickly performed ........what a way to round off the evening. After, what seemed like hours, Head Judge Ju, took to the stage  with Mandy Ansell (and the impressive Graham Ansell trophy !), to announce the winners. Probably the most suprised about the result were the winners themselves, Agent of The Enemy, who just could not believe they were up there to receive the trophy .........well done lads ! Second place went to DropTear ModelMaker and third place, Eight Dirty Pages. A special Spirit of the Competition prize was awarded to Optimus is Primed for their totally brave and different performance in Heat 3. A fantastic night of entertainment ...........COLD, VERY COLD, but a great night all round.

The Bear Pit - 12/3/07 - a new feature to the site. Love him or Hate him, the Bear will be giving us his ramblings .....controversial ? political ? topical ? or just a rant from the Pit ? Who knows but it may cause some reaction .......
